where did you order these from?
ReplyDeleteEric,
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delay but I've been out of town for a while, however I got my new carb holders on Ebay. Copy this YAMAHA 78-81 XS1100, 82 XJ1100 MAXIM CARB HOLDERS and paste it in a ebay search and it should bring them up I was very pleased with them and they came with gaskets too! If you go with the Pods I would highly recomend a mounting bracket to ease the weight off of the manifolds. Like shown in the Day 225 "I'm about to blow a fuse" post 6th piture down. There is also a link there to where I got my Carbs. Well Buddy thanks for the comment and thanks for checking out Shops Chops!

thanks for helping me hunt these down. I'm sure I'll be bugging you about other details as I continue my build.
ReplyDeleteEric,
ReplyDeleteOnce again sorry about the delay, however feel free to contact me anytime and I'll do my best to help you out. Also feel free to use the email form on the right side of this page, I love to see pics of the progress on these old bikes!

Mine are starting to look alittle rough like the ones in your pictures here. Im on a tight budget myself. Did you see my XS1100S I emailed you pics! Is there a way to tell if theres a leak just by riding the bike cause it seems my bike has less power then it did when I first got it. Or maybe it just feels that way? ;)
ReplyDeletekegs for convicts,
ReplyDeleteThere are ways to tell if they are leaking. Some people use carb cleaner and spray around them while the bike is running to see if the rpm changes at all. If the are leaking I've seen plenty of "cheap" fixes out there like RTV and stuff like that none of which I am recommending. And yes I did get your email (I think) Do you have dogs? If so, then for sure yes, and I tried to email you back but I think that your email entered into the contacter 9000 might have been slightly wrong or something because it got returned as undeliverable? But the bike looked good so keep up the good work.
