This week I didn't do anything on the Bobber, I just enjoyed riding it. Here's a few shots of it by the Gulf of Mexico.

very nice bike man
ReplyDeleteJo,
ReplyDeleteThanks I really appreciate the comment! It was a lot of work, and I still have got a ways to go. Someday It will be finished but until then it's been a lot of fun, especially now that I can ride it!
Thanks Again,

So is the seat really Done?? I thought you had mentioned you were going to dop Leather with "Shop Chop's" in it or something. IT really cant be tha comfy?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteNo, the seat is not done. It's one of the items that falls under the "lots left to do" list. However it's still surprisingly not as uncomfortable as it looks, the sprigs help out a ton.

Nice Bike! Do you like the mid controls?
ReplyDeleteYes I do like the controls like that with drag bars. Just a personal preference though. I think that with ape hanger bars forward controls are a must, but with drag bars it is unpractical, however that's just me.

Nice Bike for sure! I just picked up a 81' XS1100 Special. I love it already. What did you do with your exhaust? Theres a swap meet here shortly and I cant wait to what I can find there for it. Thanks
ReplyDeleteAnonymous person,
ReplyDeleteThanks, these are great bikes! Good luck at the swap meet, I have tons of stuff that I need to sell that I took off of the bike, like the mufflers.

First off... RAD RIDE MAN, I was going through all the pictures of bobbers I could find online and yours is the one that gets first in my book. I was wondering how much this "Bobber on a Budget" cost?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteThank you I really appreciate that as far as the cost so far at the current status I'm below $2000. But its not done yet, however are they ever done? Thanks again for your comment and question.

Been kicking myself in the keister since I sold my 78 xs.
ReplyDeleteIt had the factory original bullfrog style fairing and hard bags.
I think they called the paint "macho maroon".
still looking for another xs 11 tho
great bike man!!!
Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest I didn't really know a much about the XS1100. I'd heard about the XS650's and seen them bobbed out. I really lucked out with getting this one. It seems like around here they are always for sale at reasonable prices if your willing to put the work in, they are definitely a great bike, so good luck on that search.

Hey Shop,
ReplyDeleteI see your Bike at first on youtube. Nice work, it is a great bike! I try to built a bike like yours but I think it will be a XS 650!? Now I have some new ideas for my bike.

She's absolutely gorgeous! I'm in the process of trying to chop up a 1981 xs1100 special myself, it's complicated to me especially because I don't have too much knowledge on this sorta thing. I'm a better rider than a fabricator if you catch my drift. With out chopping the frame up what would you say would be the easiest way sitting on stock frame to mount a springer seat to get me around for a while. That 80's purple rain seat has GOT to go its huge! Lol great build boss keep up the awesome work!!!
ReplyDeleteTroyBash,
DeleteFirst things first. Thank you. Secondly, I think that it just wont be the same without a chop and hard tail. But thanks again for taking a look at Shops Chops, and good luck with the build.

p.s. Yes that huge seat did have to go!
