Day 120 "Hardtail Continued" 11 April 2009
This is how my day began, other then being really ill. I woke up today of coarse sick as a animal for the weekend on the only day available to work on the hard tail. So I went at it anyway, this is where I started. I notched out the vertical tubes so I could bend them in to support the hard tail. As shown below.
The blurry pic is what I call sickness vision, its about how everything looked today with my flu symptoms.
It's coming together, its rough but, no good project starts out finished. "Rome wasn't built in a day!"
Looks like I've got a lot of welding to do but I'm going to save it for a day that I feel a little better.
I'm going to need a springer seat, I hope I don't have to make that too? But probably will the size is not a very common size, 9" long and around 12" wide. I'll figure it out I hope? I'm also debating if I should do a rear fender or not.

Hey there,
ReplyDeleteI know this project has long since passed its completion, but on the off chance you still monitor this blog, I'm hoping you can answer a question for me.
It is tough to tell from the pictures, so can you tell me how angled the hardtail rails inward to meet the frame? Did you angle the 7/8 tube inside the rail to point the rail inward from the shock eyelet? Or do they sit on the shock mount at an angle?
This looks like a great solution to avoid having to use a tube bender to fab the hardtail rails, and I'm just curious how you pulled it off.
Best,
JAred
