It's Time... Something needs to happen with the seat. Idea's?

I guess it's about time to start back on the bobber, lots of clean up here and there and the seat needs to be upholstered. I would like to go leather, so I'm going to see what I can do there.

  2. Hey Anonymous,
I really appreciate the comment. I've been considering just a thin piece of leather for the seat that's rough out like what they use on saddles to keep you in the seat. Then along the back some smooth cut that I can tool a design into. Perhaps a "Shops Chops" logo or something along those lines, that's really my number one reason for the seat is to keep me in it, because with a bike that has this kind of "get up and go" need something to hold you in the seat, although I could just get a seat belt? Well, seriously though I'll keep weighing out my options and thanks again for the comment.

  4. Chicken,
I'm not sure how you got the name "Chicken" anybody that rides a bike with this amount of umph with out a seat is anything but a chicken. However, thanks for your comment as well as the seatless riding advice. I was very tempted to also take mine out before i installed the seat, but now and after your story I'm pretty glad I didn't. I'll post some pictures as soon as I start the on the leather. And yes your story solidified me going with the rough out leather for extra grip to avoid that tire. Thanks again for your input. All ideas, comments and stories are welcome here even if it resulted in a hot butt.

  5. hey man i know its not related to your seat issue but how the hell did you get your battery in there i barely have enough room for the bat not to mention a box i jammed one in on mine but i went a couple inches lower than you did so i have almost zero room for that stuff and even with a smaller battery cant find smaller demensions even on the site you put up where you got yours though they do have great deals on batteries if you have any suggestions let me know

  6. Chicken,
There should be room for the battery I sacrificed some CCA but it's done the job for almost 2 years now so I can't complain here are the Dimensions:
    Length:5.81", Width:3.32", Height 5.75" (including terminals):5.75", B1 terminals (Terminal hardware included), 200CCA, Approx Weight 10 lbs.
All the info can be found on the Day 144 "Batteries and Battery boxs" link there are direct links to the Battery that I got and last I checked it's under $40. I'm sure you've probably already figured all this out by now but I thought I'd put it on here in case anybody else has questions.

  7. new idea on your seat man reflective skid tape with your logo cut out of it with a chrome underlay so that shops chops would be chrome could be cool and would be cheap on the budget would just have to mock it up and see how it looked would go good with your chrome accents on the tank and motor good and would be the only one like it which is always a plus
